BEM Marketing Differentiators:

Differentiator 1: Electric motors are well understood electromechanical power conversion devices with more than a century of leverageable trade space and manufacturing knowledge with manufacturing capitalization as the market restriction. BEM is fabricating its patented electric machine 3D Printer, which will be programmed by BEM Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool with the library of manufacturing knowledgebase, to virtually eliminate capitalization.

Differentiator 2: Since the beginning, the classic electric machine study begins with the symmetric multiphase wound-rotor “synchronous” doubly fed electric machine system, which until SYNCHRO-SYM, was only possible by postulating a brushless real time emulation control (BRTEC) means to eliminate the reliance on slip-induction and thereby, provide a “continuously stable active rotor” assembly that contributes real power to the electromechanical energy conversion process. The classic study becomes the study for all other electric machine systems by deoptimizing the symmetry of an active rotor assembly of a directly excited multiphase winding set with the asymmetry of a “passive rotor” assembly of slip-induction dependent windings, reluctance saliencies, dc field windings, or permanent magnets (PM).

Differentiator 3: All electric motor manufacturers, such as MAGNIX and EMRAX, use the same century old asymmetric circuit and control architectures with a “passive rotor” of slip-induction windings, reluctance salience, dc field windings, or rare earth PMs, which are differentiated by the strategic application of readily available material, winding, and packaging techniques. In contrast, BEM is the only electric motor manufacturer that strategically applies readily available material, winding, and packaging techniques to a “new” symmetric electric motor circuit and control architecture with an “active rotor” that contributes real power to the electromechanical energy conversion process with half the cost, size, and loss of the century old asymmetric circuit and control architecture.

Differentiator 4: Contrary to the present direction of the electric vehicle industry, BEM believes it is better to eliminate the “compounding” loss, cost, size, reliability, and maintenance issues of the gearbox and high-speed RE-PM electric motor combination with a lower loss, cost, and size direct drive electric motor that is free of the RE-PM and gearbox issues, as only possible with the highest peak torque of SYNCHRO-SYM.

Differentiator 5: In contrast to industry’s traditional power conditioning architecture, a “direct” high efficiency, high power density, bi-directional, single or multiphase ac/dc to ac/dc electricity conversion bus with leading to lagging power factor correction and frequency to frequency translation, called Brushless Multiphase Self Commutation Control (BMSCC).

Differentiator 6: In contrast to industry’s traditional electricity micro-distribution bus architecture, a high frequency multiphase micro distribution bus, which reduces the number of conversion stages to improve efficiency and lower cost, improve power density in a System of System (SoS) environment, such as electric airplanes, vehicles, and ships, called Bi-directional, Balanced Multiphase, High Frequency, Electricity, Micro-Distribution Bus (BM-HFMDB).

  • A straight forward engineering and manufacturing ready product with the most advanced (and only practical) 3D Printer of axial flux electric machines, called MOTORPRINTER, that eliminates the high capital cost of electric machine manufacture while uniquely accommodating the highest performance enabling materials available, such as ultrathin amorphous, nanocrystalline, or electrical metal ribbon, which have eluded past attempts of manufacture.
